Brian Rubenstein was appointed as Pupkewitz Group General Manager in January 1997 and as Executive Director later that year. He laid the initial plans for converting the Group from a family run business to a professionally run business and oversaw the rapid growth of the Group through carefully orchestrated acquisitions and organic growth. He was also responsible for the implementation of the culture of managing the Group and rewarding Executives through the concept of Return on Assets Managed (ROAM), resulting in vastly improved asset management and strong cash flows.
Brian left Pupkewitz in 2005 to take on the role of Group Chief Executive Officer of United Africa Group, where his hands on knowledge of the business world lead to their rapid growth and conversion to a professionally run corporate Group. On his retirement and relocation to South Africa, he was as a non-executive director and Chairman: Group Executive Committee. He however remained an independent director of the Pupkewitz Group.
Brian has been active in the Namibian scene and has chaired Junior Achievement Namibia, ORT Trust Namibia, Windhoek Hebrew Community and Brick and Concrete Industries. He is a former Director of Liberty Life Holdings Namibia and served on Namibia Employers Federation Exco, Legal and Regulatory Committee of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
